Please feel free to apply if you are interested.  If you are looking to improve your life and the lives of others, we are interested in meeting with you!     Residential Instructor Responsibilities:   Assists, trains and supervises individuals in activities of daily living skills, including implementation of goals and personal support plans. Documents progress and problems appropriately. Prepares and administers medications to individuals as assigned. Assumes other medication/medical duties as assigned, e.g., first aid, medication/supply ordering, appointments, etc. Reports medication errors or medical needs properly, e.g., incident report, RN on call, etc.   Alerts appropriate staff of medical, behavioral and program plan concerns. Provides input into program planning through Supervisor, Manager, Treatment Team or Service Coordinator. Assists with showering and personal care of each person as scheduled. Assists with lifting or physically transferring individuals as per plan of care.   Assists with purchasing (ensuring proper receipts are obtained), providing proper care, labeling and sorting of each person’s belongings. Ensures that belongings are identified and accounted for properly, e.g., adding/removing from inventory, labeling without calling attention, etc. Prepares, serves and stores foods in accordance with Agency Policies and Procedures. Follows menus and diet specifications provided by dietitian. Participates in meals and encourages proper eating behavior and etiquette. Implements monthly recreation and activity schedules as assigned by the Supervisor. Assists with development of recreation events as needed. Drives and/or assists people to activities, medical appointments, and other services in a safe manner. Helps individuals manage themselves in a positive manner when in the community.   Becomes knowledgeable of and follows facility's Policies and Procedures and person specific plan changes (e.g., confidentiality, residential habilitation plans/goals, individuals' rights, etc.). Reviews staff communication logs and shift report books on a daily basis. Maintains residence in a safe and healthy condition. Brings concerns to Supervisor in a timely fashion. Assures maintenance issues and health and safety concerns are reported properly.   Attends all monthly full staff meetings, IPP meetings, and scheduled training sessions as assigned. Reports to work as scheduled and notifies Supervisor, Manager or Charge Person of absence at least two hours prior to shift to assure 24 hour coverage. Agrees to work varying shifts or mandatory overtime.   Performs housekeeping duties listed in daily assignment sheet including proper cleaning of adaptive equipment. Acts as Primary Contact Person for 1 - 3 individuals as assigned. Handles emergency situations according to Agency/Facility Policies & Procedures. Submits incident reports as required. Performs such other duties as assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, Nurse or person in charge of the shift. Adheres to the Personnel Policy established by the Board of Directors and the Policies & Procedures established by the Executive Director. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: On feet all day. Heavy lifting involved with transfers. Ability to perform SCIP-R maneuvers in a crisis situation.
